Friday Finish: SMS Mini

Here's my little schpeal on swaps. Just my two cents on the whole thing. A little advice, if you will.

  1. Please, don't sign up for a swap if you aren't active on Instagram, or Pinterest, or at least a blog. If you just join IG in order to join a swap, it makes things difficult for the person assigned to you. It's hard to personalize things, even extras, if we've got nothing to go on.
  2. Fill out your form. Answer the questions. "I don't know" is not an answer. "Not sure" is not an answer. Be specific. No one wants to sound greedy, but when the questionnaire asks what notions you like, say what you like. Needles, pins, dumplings, seam ripper, scissors, candy, no candy, embroidery floss, whatever. But answer the dang question!
Okay. I'm done. On to the finish!

Wasn't entirely sure what my partner would like (yeah, she inspired that little lecture!), but she said she liked bright colors. This is what I came up with.

The swap had to be made from 75% stash. This was 100% stash, actually. Leftover bits from this quilt. I didn't have a lot to go on, so I did my best with what I had.

Checking this one off the 4QFAL list.

  1. I agree with you about swap info sometimes lacking. On the bright side, you can do whatever you want! :0)

  2. This is really cute and I couldn't agree more. Your quilt looks great and hopefully they will love it too! Hope you get something wonderful in return.

  3. I feel the same way. I once joined a secret sister deal at our local quilt guild. It lasted most of the year and I lavished my secret sister with fun and sensible gifts at each meeting and on her birthday, anniversary and holidays. All the while who ever had my name seemed to constantly forget. It came down to the big reveal and we all went around and opened our big gift for the end and told everyone who the gift giver was. The best part was when the one that had my name opened all her gifts from her secret sister then she had to admit that she had once again forgotten to honor the person that she had. While I did not NEED whatever gift she might have given me it would have been nice if she had at least participated a little bit through out the year. I am very careful when joining in these types of swaps. I love to give to others but it can lead to such frustration to be ignored.

  4. Hear hear. I joined the scnitzel and boo mini swap, my first ever swap. My partner had no social media presence at all and wrote 2 lines on her questionnaire. I wrote to the organisers and dropped out.
