When I'm not hugging the husband, I might be:
- Homeschooling one (or all) of my five kids. We are "unschoolers," which means we go for child-led learning. Whatever they are interested in at the time, that's what we learn. It's busy and crazy and completely unconventional and I love it. So do they.
- Quilting. That's most likely why you're here. I love to sew. My mom taught me in 4-H years ago, and I made my first quilt when I was 18 (I really need to blog that first quilt!). I got seriously addicted after my first baby came along. By the time #4 arrived, the blogging world was coming alive with projects and tutorials and more inspiration than any sane person could handle. But who said I was sane?
- Baking. I've trained as a pastry chef, but my efforts are now channeled into birthday cakes and holiday desserts. My kids get some awesome cakes, let me tell you! I enter things into the fair (and I don't always win!), and I'm passing along my knowledge to my kids (and my friend with chocolate chip cookie dilemmas!).
- Reading. I love to read. I'm an aspiring novelist, and should probably spend more time writing instead of sewing, but sewing can be easily interrupted, where writing cannot. Still, it's in the works.

Did you ever do a tutorial for the christmas stockings you made?
ReplyDeleteHello Jennie-
ReplyDeleteI am so inspired by your patchwork weekender bags. They are beautiful. I have the pattern, peltex, cording & a vintage happy jelly roll & some yardage.
I'm anxious to start, but I am confused about the interfacing. I've purchased SF101, but I'm wondering if I should use something heavier. I am not using duck cloth, just the quilting cotton for lining & the patchwork squares for the outside panels. Is it sturdy without duck cloth? Which interfacing did you use?
Thank you for any advice. I have saved all of your tips.

Hello! I love your weekender bags and so appreciate your tips. I am making mine with the 2 1/2" squares, but am confused about where you used the duck cloth, the interfacing and the fleece. Did you only use interfacing in the top panel? Did you use the peltec at all? In other words, what layers did you where?
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
