Give said the little blog . . .

Yep, I totally hijacked a little song. One of my favorites. Deal.

Welcome to my small corner of blogland.

This is me:

Okay, that WAS me, 12 years ago. I traded in my chef whites for jeans, t-shirts and flip flops 9.5 years ago when I had my first baby. Haven't looked back since.

But a girl does need a hobby besides babies (I've got five of those now!). So I got back to sewing and started quilting with a vengeance.

My specialty seems to be flimsies. I've got 15 (egad!) that need to be quilted.

In my defense, I'm on the brink of moving (as in, 14 days from today!), so I've been cranking out the flimsies. At the other end of this  move is a gorgeous sister-in-law who has a long arm. Um, who wouldn't wait, right?

So I'm up to my eyelashes with boxes and cleaning and completely blanked on the giveaway this year.

How's about an etsy gift certificate this go 'round? Makes it super easy on me, you can pick out whatever your heart desires and my international buddies can enter and win as well.

So, here's what you hafta do for $25 on etsy:

Leave me a comment. We like clean jokes around here, so if you've got a killer knock-knock joke (and by killer I mean one that a seven-year-old will laugh at, so it doesn't have to be brilliant), share it. I've got a road trip coming up with my kids and I'd love to print off a list of jokes for them to read to each other. Thanks ever so!

Let the joking begin! And good luck!

Oh, the rules. Sheesh!
  1. One comment per person.
  2. No extra points for following (although I'm having a housewarming giveaway the first of June, so if you're a follower, you qualify for that).
  3. Comments close on Friday May 10 at 5 p.m. PST.
  4. Best joke wins. Or random number generator. I don't promise to be objective. If you make the whole family laugh, including my husband, at the dinner table this week, you win.
That's all folks!

PLEASE PLEASE leave me a way to contact you - I've already had several no-reply bloggers comment and you'll be missing out on the fun for ALL the giveaways! Check and make sure, or just leave your e-mail in your comment!

Make-A-List Monday: SMS Giveaway time

Welcome to all, whether new visitors from the Sew Mama Sew giveaway link or regular visitors. Have a look around, if you like. Or pin something and come back later. I'm game.

Now Mondays are my list making days, and I will get to that, but let's be serious. Most everyone is here for the giveaway.

The prize:

I believe in supporting small businesses as much as possible, and Green Fairy Quilts is one of my favorites. Amazing deals, let me tell you. Most of my Christmas wish list is available there, and I love that you can pre-order bundles, jelly rolls, and layer cakes. I really want to pre-order some Glamping!

So the winner of my giveaway will get $25 to spend.

The rules:
  1. Leave a comment. Tell me your favorite movie line. This is one of mine, mostly because I married a Han Solo:

This is my other one, but I can't say I married James Bond (although the man I married does look great in a tux and knows his way around guns):

This giveaway is open to everyone. I'll choose a winner randomly, unless I love your movie line the best. Just nothing obscene, mmmkay? Comments close December 7 at 5 p.m. PST. I'll notify the winner via e-mail (please, oh please make sure you're not a no-reply blogger - I had over 30 of them last year!) and in a blog post. Then I'll buy the prize and send it to you! Easy, right?
On to regularly scheduled events.

Okay, last week's list was:
  • Project organization
My to-do list is made, and it's long. Thankfully, my law student starts finals today, so I'll have a lot more free time once he's done and ready to supervise children.
  • Quilt and bind Holiday Hostess quilt
Done. Love it. It's the perfect snuggle quilt while watching Christmas movies.
  • Quilt and bind Easy as Cake Christmas quilt
Almost done. Should finish the binding up by tomorrow and I'll post pictures then.

On to this week:
  • Finish up that quilt
  • Work on stockings - piece tops and embroider names
  • Cut and sew softy owl
  • Cut and sew alligator softy
  • Order the rest of my supplies, or hit JoAnn's
  • Check out all the giveaways at Sew Mama Sew
 Have a fabulous week!

Winner Winner Candy Dinner!

We did the super scientific method of choosing a winner. And my boys took it very seriously, apparently.

Yep. Thirteen comments. Thirteen slips of paper.

A hat (James offered his NRA hat for the occasion).

A three-year-old instructed to pull just one piece of paper out of the hat.

And the winner is:

#1 (who says the first comment doesn't ever win?) - Carla of Dancing Moon! Carla, I checked your blog. Have you bought a lottery ticket lately? Because you should really consider it. You are winning at everything!

Congratulations! I've sent you an e-mail. Send me your address and we'll get this package o' fun in the mail on Monday! Have fun playing around.

Winner Winner Pie for Dinner

You have the chicken. I'll have pie for dinner, thanks. Blackberry. With pistachio ice cream. Don't knock it 'til you try it. It's awesome.

Okay, I'm doing a giveaway every time because reading your comments was vastly entertaining.

I said vastly in my head with a British accent. It was funny.

On to the winner's circle:

So I'll let you guys count up the comments and get back to me on the winners.

Just kidding. I'm a math nerd. I love to count things.

my favorite thing right now is my nephew who is due in 4 weeks but if that isn't good enough my favorite summer food is corn on the cob and my favorite craft is currently knitting.

I've sent you all e-mails, so be on the lookout.

Congratulations to all of you. It was great fun reading your comments. I'm so glad I have many kindred spirits out there.

I'll be back on Monday with more quilting crazy fun!

Sew Mama Sew Giveaway

Welcome to my little corner of blog land.

I put together some of my favorite projects for those who are new here.  Me in a quilty nutshell.

My finished string quilt top - will be quilting this soon.
Indian Summer Quilt
Victory Garden quilt
Red and Aqua Chimneys and Cornerstones quilt
Red and Aqua Matchbox quilt
My Sunkissed granny squares - quilting this one in July
Okay, on to the giveaway.

Here's how it works.

In order to win, you must do the following:

Blog about my giveaway, but you have to type the blogpost whilst standing upside down.

And you must have photographic proof.

And then you have to promise to religiously read my blog posts, even the boring ones where I blather endlessly about my current fabric and pastry obsessions, teething babies, law school husbands and potty training.

Okay, not really.

But I would like you to leave me a comment. Tell me your favorite something: book, cake, movie, workout video, color, perfume, musical, vacation spot, baby name, bird, TV show, whatever. But if you skip over these instructions and just leave me a comment and there isn’t something “favorite-y” in there, you are disqualified. Because I’m in charge.

And here are my favorites. Are we kindred spirits?
Book: Pride and Prejudice
Cake: Coconut cake (I have the world's greatest recipe!). Oh, and yellow cake with chocolate icing
Movie: Chocolat (my first date with my husband)
workout video: Jillian Michaels' Ab workout is killing me these days
Color: Yellow
Perfume: Poeme by Lancome
Musical: Anything Fred and Ginger
Vacation spot: Seattle (that's the one that will happen sooner rather than later - used to live there so I know all the great things to do and the best places to eat)
Baby name: the one I wanted to use and didn't get to: Megan
Bird: Osprey
TV show: Downton Abbey

I think we'll have three winners. Three different charm packs: Summersville California Girl and Vintage Modern. And I'll most likely throw in some other fun things.

The technicalities:
  • I will not ship internationally this year. Sorry!
  • The giveaway will stay open until 25 May at 5 p.m. PST (give or take)
  • I'll draw the winners Friday night and notify you by e-mail. Check and make for absolute sure you aren't a "no reply" blogger. If I can't reach you, you miss out.
  • One entry only. I'll be checking.

You do not have to follow my blog. Can I tell you how much I dislike this requirement? Follow because you like me, not because you want an extra shot at my giveaway. Do you know how many times I've followed a blog, just for a giveaway, and then stopped following because I wasn't really interested in the blog? Yeah, too many to count.

Have a great time visiting all the blogs.

Let's Celebrate!

First of all, if you're interested in joining the Boy/Girl I-Spy charm swap, head over here to sign up. We're only halfway there, so jump in and join the fun!

And now, on to the celebration!

Why are we celebrating?
  1. My husband is taking the final final of his first year of law school.
  2. My baby girl cut her second tooth (yeah, she's doing them one at a time - oh joy!
  3. I have 49 followers. That's almost 50!
And I feel like celebrating with a giveaway to my current followers.
I just numbered you all and used the random number generator (boy, is that handy - way easier than drawing names out of a hat!). The winner is:

And of course 43 means nothing, so I'll tell you. The winner is Johanna. E-mail me your address and I'll send you your choice of these patterns:

Camille Roskelley's Piece of Cake 3, Vintage Holiday, or On A Whim.

And I think Follower Appreciation Giveaways are going to be a regular thing. Randomly regular. Just as a thanks for liking me.
