Why I blog

I read through all the comments (thus far) over at Swim Bike Quilt.

Here's my two cents. Or more. You can keep the change!
  • I don't do word verification because I personally find it annoying, but I do like comment moderation so that I can filter out the filth that sometimes creeps through. Thanks, I don't need people to see porn in my comments section. You're welcome.
  • I have one little ad bar below my first post. I thought, hey, I might make some cash doing this. At the rate I'm going, I might hit $100 by my birthday after 2 years. Who cares, right?
  • You'll get pictures, but you'll get words too.
  • My family is my life. This is a quilting blog, but I can no more separate the quilts from the little people around me than I can dinner from the little people around me. It's part of my process: finding the time to make pretty things.
  • I don't write tutorials. Maybe I should, but then I haven't come up with anything original. I try to link to my inspiration or the pattern or the book or something, if I can.
  • I love lists (uh, could you tell?)
  • I love humor
  • I love real people, with real lives, who visit their mothers and sew quilts for soldiers and fight with their husbands. If we're going to be anything, let's be real. It's nice to know we're not alone, that we don't all live in a quilted bubble where nothing ever affects us. It does.
  • If you don't receive a reply back from me when you leave a comment, chances are you are a no-reply blogger and I can't reach you. I mostly reply. Not always, but mostly.
Okay, enough already. Keep on quilting, my friends, but be you. This is me. I hope you like it!

  1. I think that you do just perfect. What drew me in was your personality. I loved your spin on situations and I like your sense of humor. I agree with all of your cents :) It is kinda an interesting topic because I have a set number of blogs that I like to follow and there are a few that I don't typically click on even when they update but I don't know if there is a rhyme or reason as to why necessarily. It will be interesting to see the cheat list when compiled.

  2. I do like it! My favourite blogs have a nice mix for quilts featuring newer fabrics and some personal life info. I was sad to read that you felt that you lost readers after your birthday post because it tells me that people were only reading if you presented an unrealistic picture of your life. To me it makes you much more relatable if you aren't a Stepford Wife who can raise five perfect children who never get dirty/throw a tantrum, keep a model show home house and create amazing quilts every week. I've been married for 23 yrs, raised two wonderful, smart, funny kids and have a close extended family who I love dearly and honestly there are days they all annoy the living hell out of me. That's reality!
Love your quilts, your humour, and how you share your reality!
