Friday Finish: Introducing Five Spot, another Fabulous F8 Quilt!

Well, after reading all your comments last week, I think it's time for a Maxi Quilt Revolution. Stay tuned. It's coming!

In the meantime, I'd like to show you my third pattern, Five Spot.

Yet another Fabulous F8 Quilt, and more than generously sized at 74"X95". This girl will cover your toes just fine and still reach your chin!

As you know, I've been banned from HSTs and QSTs by Kate, the Goddess of the Nested Seams. She's been editing and testing and red-penning my patterns, and so this one was a breather, I hope. Some cute little on-point four-patch blocks, some Birds in the Air blocks and you're done. Sashing (I love my sashing!), a border, and one big quilt! Kate started on a baby quilt by testing one block. I'm loving the non-white background. This is a great big scrap buster kinda quilt:

It's going to be a cute baby boy quilt!

I used the Spring 2014 Flower Sugar F8 bundle from Westwood Acres, and I'm seriously loving the bright colors.

Five Spot takes just 24 F8s, plus some yardage for the background, sashing, and border. The blocks finish at 18" square, so it all comes together pretty quickly.

Want to win a copy of the pattern? Want to win a copy of all three of my pattens: Make It Do, Taffy and Five Spot? If you don't want to wait to have a copy, she's on sale for $5, this week only in my Craftsy store.

Leave me a comment. Last week we discussed Maxi quilts (and I hope you're ready for the Maxi Quilt Revolution coming up). This week, I'd like to know your thoughts Etsy vs. Craftsy: which do you prefer? I like Craftsy because all my purchased patterns are all in the same place. Very user friendly, in my book, and why I chose to open my shop in Craftsy instead of Etsy. But Etsy is a little prettier, and easier to search. What about you? Which do you prefer?

Giveaway runs through Thursday, November 20th at 11:59 p.m. Winner will be notified by e-mail first and announced on this blog. If you're a no-reply blogger, I can't contact you, which means you can't win a pattern. So leave an e-mail address for me just in case!

  1. I shop both Etsy and Craftsy. While it is nice to have all my patterns in one spot, Etsy just has more to choose from at this time.

  3. I love this one too!! A great way to use all my favorite leftover pieces I don't know what to do with!! Personally I prefer Craftsy, I have never really been an Etsy fan. Thanks for the chance to win!!

  5. Your quilts are Awesome!! I can go to either. I have one of your patterns in my cart on Etsy. I personally like paper patterns on the actual web sight, more than downloaded ones. My patterns have a nice shelf whereas the PDF's go into a binder and get hidden away.

  8. Love the colors used in your quilt. Not sure which I like more - Etsy or Craftsy - I use both and both are great.

  9. I like them both but as you said, Etsy is a bit easier to find things..Great pattern!

  10. I like Craftsy for patterns more than Etsy because you can 'store' them. With Etsy patterns I can't ever find them again because I download and save who knows where.

  11. I love the bright colors nestled in the wide grey borders, they really pop. I prefer Craftsy.

  12. You summed up my thoughts on both, I guess I'll just say ditto! Great minds think alike :)

  15. Gorgeous quilts! Wow! Congrats on the patterns too. I haven't sold on either platform so couldn't really tell you which I prefer. Good luck though!

  16. I've already bought "Make it Do" and "Taffy" and don't find Craftsy hard to use at all. I've never really sued Etsy except to browse so my comments aren't worth much! I came in from Kate's blog to see how big the blocks of this quilt were. All my quilts are made from other people's donated scraps and have to finish at about 54" x 64" so an 18" block might not work. I guess I could make a 54" square from nine blocks then add a top and bottom border ... something to think about.
Thanks for your great scrap busting patterns!

  17. Well, I love to drool thru Etsy, but really like Craftsy, if for no other reason then there's a "holding place" for my patterns. I don't sell anything, so am only speaking as a user. I love your patterns!

  18. Great quilt patterns Jennie - even more so with your fabric choices. I love both Etsy and Craftsy, but I'm leaning more toward Craftsy for all things Quilty.

  19. I love your beautiful quilts!! I have a few items for sale on Etsy buy with so much no one sees them, I really love Craftsy.

  20. Beautiful quilts and choice of colors. Thanks for the chance to win a pattern.

  21. Another great pattern. F8s are my favourite precut I think. A good chunk of each fabric in the range, with getting too much, too expensive or too extravagant like a FQ bundle. I don't have a preference for Craftsy or Etsy as I haven't used either much.
