Designer Thursdays: Swoon Sewing Patterns

It's no secret I love bags. Weekenders. Library. Purses.

What I love more? Bag designers who tell me "feel free to sell your bags made with this pattern."

And that's exactly what it says on the patterns from Swoon Sewing Patterns. I don't know if I will, but it's nice to know we can, right?

I bought the Swoon Dorothy Day Tripper bag ages ago. I needed a bag just this size, and the price was right. Seriously? $5.95?

The pattern was well written, with lots of clear images to explain the instructions. Arrows pointing me in the right direction. That is much appreciated, let me tell you!

And here she is:

Just want y'all to notice the amount of pink on this bag. It's lined with the same pink polka dot fabric. See? I can do pink. But only if it's paired with French macaron fabric. Then I have to do pink. There's a law, or something.

Now. Let's talk about the cuteness of her other patterns. These are just a few on my wishlist:

The Blanche Barrel Bag - I want two!

The Dottie Vintage Bag - my next purse

The Eloise Wallet - it's even got a zippy pocket for your phone!

The Sophia Beach Tote - there are straps to hold a towel on the other side - genius!

Now, I e-mailed Swoon Sewing Patterns, making sure I had permission to use photos and links. And not only did Alicia say "Sure!" she also said, "Feel free to give one away!"

So, head on over, pick one out, and leave me a comment telling me which one you'd choose. Winner's choice! Lucky dogs! I'll announce a winner next Thursday, so good luck!

  15. I'd want the wallet. I've tried on my own with some success, but I'd really like a pattern to know how to do it right.
